A Spring Mantel

The beautiful weather this past weekend was just the motivation I needed to finally decorate my mantle.  I mostly used things from around the house.

I found the old aluminum milk can at an antique store when I lived in Tennessee.  I picked up the birdhouse at a primitive home decor shop last week for $7.  The framed tweed fabric was also purchased from an antique flea market in Tennessee- it actually has a primitive tea stained sheep applique on the front- I just turned it around to the backside.

The framed picture is a watercolor that my great-uncle painted over 25 years ago.  It is a picture of a corner of one of three porches of my grandparents farmhouse just as it was on some ramdom day of their busy farm lives.  I miss that porch...I miss the farm...I miss my grandparents...

I've had the willow balls forever {I bought them from Pier 1 over 15 years ago!}  The mini wreath and bird's nests were purchased last year from the Flower and Craft Warehouse in Lancaster County- I LOVE that place and I've been itching to go!

The white shelving is from Ikea and is the start of my living room redo. I have a few pieces of furniture that I plan to paint with some chalk paint- if I can decide on a color!

My sweet Hannah has been wishing for spring for about a month now.  We're all looking forward to the warm, sunny weather!

  1. Becky,
I think everyone in the family misses the farm and Mom and Pop Casner. The memories we all shared there are forver in our hearts and memories! Those days then seemed so much simplier! A time of no cell phones, no facebook no drama that is created with all the social networking that we have now! Just the love of family and GOOD friends to get you by!! Oh how I wish my children could have grown up in that enviroment!! Your mantle looks great of course with you and your talent we can only expect something so beautiful!!!

    Your little bro
